Digital Sources
The Library provides royalty-free digital images on CD from Corbis, Digital Juice, Digital Vision, Jump Backs and Photospin. Royalty-free means that the images are copyrighted but the owners have given users permission to use them according to the license agreement. Digital photo collections can be found at the Circulation Desk and may be checked out for 24 hours.

Online digital images are available through Corbis at http://education.corbis.com. Pick up a flyer in the student lounges, faculty lounges, or Library for access information.

Alternative digital sources include the entire run of National Geographic on CD (copyrighted) and Library Research Databases that provide image searches. These databases include e-Library, EBSCOhost Academic Search Elite via EBSCOhost Web, and EBSCOhost Searchasaurus.

The Library has books which contain images on a variety of subjects. Use the Library's online catalog to find the right one for you. Some frequently used materials are the Eyewitness books series, stock photography books and visual dictionaries. A note of caution: most of the photographs in these books are protected by United States copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code). The owners of the images have the exclusive right to reproduce them and others who wish to use the images must obtain permission and/or pay a fee. It is best if you avoid using copyrighted images for your portfolio projects.

The Library has scanners and a black and white photocopier for your convenience. A color printer is also available in the Library computer lab.
